How does Qatar deal with e-Invoicing?
Qatar is open to this new way of invoicing. However, Qatar must first introduce VAT to make e-invoicing mandatory. Without VAT, tax invoices, which include electronic invoices as well, are not regulated.
Anyway, Qatar-based companies may voluntarily create electronic invoices, subject to the data transmission obligation. These can be stored abroad if a copy of the electronic invoice is also stored in Qatar.
A digital signature is required to ensure the authenticity and integrity of electronic documents. However, validation of the e-signature by the purchaser is not required.
Generally, invoices are stored in Qatar for 10 years from the date of issue. Storage abroad is allowed, but only if a paper copy is stored in Qatar.

Back in 2016, Qatar agreed as a member state of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) that it would introduce a value-added tax system. The standard rate is to be 5%. However, the implementation has not yet been carried out.
In 2022, the introduction is now finally to take place and a law is to be published to regulate the introduction of the VAT system.
